Description
This Teriyaki Chicken Skillet is a fast, high-protein easy chicken recipe made with just three ingredients. Juicy chicken is seared until golden, then coated in a glossy teriyaki glaze for a weeknight dinner that feels like takeout—but cooks in under 20 minutes. Perfect for family dinner, meal prep, or a quick healthy dinner with rice or veggies.
Ingredients
- Chicken breast – 1½ lb
- Store-bought teriyaki sauce – ½ cup
- Neutral oil – 1 tbsp
Instructions
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Slice into thin strips or bite-size pieces so they cook quickly and evenly.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the neutral oil and let it get hot but not smoking.
- Add the chicken to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 4–5 minutes without stirring until lightly golden on the bottom.
- Stir or flip the chicken and cook another 3–4 minutes until fully cooked through and lightly browned.
- Reduce heat to medium. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
- Let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until glossy and slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and spoon extra sauce from the pan over the chicken.
Notes
- Keep heat moderate once the sauce is added to avoid burning.
- Use low-sodium teriyaki sauce for a healthier dinner.
- Add steamed broccoli or snap peas directly to the skillet for a one-pan meal prep option.
