Instructions

  1. Soak dried peas overnight, then drain.
  2. Slice hog jowl and fry until golden; set aside.
  3. Sauté onions and garlic in reserved hog jowl fat.
  4. Add peas, broth, seasonings, and hog jowl to a large pot.
  5. Simmer for about 1 hour until peas are tender.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning; serve warm with cornbread or collard green.
