Description

These Cheesy Sloppy Joe Sliders combine tender ground beef simmered in a sweet and tangy sauce with melty cheddar cheese, all tucked inside soft Hawaiian rolls. Baked to golden perfection with a buttery glaze, they’re a quick, family-friendly recipe that’s as perfect for busy weeknight dinners as it is for packing into lunchboxes.

Ingredients

  • ·  1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • ·  1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ·  1 cup ketchup
  • ·  2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ·  1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ·  1 tsp garlic powder
  • ·  Salt & pepper, to taste
  • ·  12 soft dinner rolls (Hawaiian rolls work great)
  • ·  1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ·  2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. ·  Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. ·  In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned; drain excess fat.
  3. ·  Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. ·  Slice dinner rolls in half horizontally; place the bottom half in a baking dish.
  5. ·  Spread the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the rolls; sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  6. ·  Place the top half of the rolls on, brush with melted butter.
  7. ·  Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
  8. ·  Serve warm or cool and wrap individually for lunchboxes.

Notes

  • Make-ahead tip: Prepare the beef mixture up to 2 days in advance and refrigerate; assemble and bake just before serving for best texture.
  • Lunchbox-friendly: Cool sliders completely before wrapping individually in parchment or foil to prevent sogginess.
  • Cheese variation: Swap cheddar for Colby Jack, mozzarella, or a blend for a milder flavor.
