Description

This warm and comforting bread pudding is made with day-old bread, cinnamon-spiced custard, and optional raisins. Simple, classic, and always satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices day-old bread, torn into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Add bread pieces to the dish, drizzle with melted butter, and sprinkle raisins on top.
  • In a bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour mixture over bread and press gently with a fork until well soaked.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until golden and set in the center. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

  • This bread pudding recipe is flexible—swap raisins for chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
  • To prevent sogginess, use day-old bread and avoid overmixing the custard.
  • Serve with vanilla sauce or a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
